How to Create a User Account on Windows 10 with settings?

There are many ways to create, delete, and manage  user account on Windows 10, last time you learned How to Manage User Accounts with CMD on Windows 10 but let’s get started with How to add a User using settings.

Step 1. Press Windows+I to open settings >Accounts then select Family and other people. I am not interested in adding a family member, but I will create a simple Account.

Step 2. Now select add someone else to this PC.

Step 3. If you are connected to a Network it will bring a Window, which asks you enter his Email Address, it means you have to use a Microsoft Account. But I will the Microsoft account and use the simple account. To do that select I don’t have this user’s Information.

Step 4. Now it will ask you to create a new Microsoft Account, if you are interested, create an account if not select add a user without a Microsoft Account.

Step 5. Now go ahead and inert the user Information, when you did that select Next and a new User will be born.

What if you want to change the standard user to Administrator? To do that click on the user and select change account type.

Step 6. Now on the blue window click on the menu and change it to administrator.

How to Create a User Account with Local Users and Groups on Windows 10?

There is also another way where you can add user on Windows 10, and that is Local Users and Groups. If you search it on with the taskbar you won’t find it, because it is hidden inside the Computer Management.

Step 1. But the easiest way to open Local Users and Groups is the run dialog box. So open Run dialog box by holding Windows + R buttons on the keyboard, then type lusrmgr.msc and press enter.

Step 2. To create a new User, open the users folder. When it opens right click and select New User.

Step 3. Now go ahead and fill in the blanks for the user. Once you did that you can select an Option down their

  1. User must change the Password at log on.
  2. User cannot change the Password.
  3. Password Never Expires.
  4. Account is disabled.

If you uncheck the first option the two other options will be enabled, then you can choose a policy.

Once you select Create the user will be created but it won’t show until you refresh.

Step 4. How about adding this user to other groups like Administrator, backup operators, Event log readers and more.  To do that right click the user which you want to add that to a group, then select Properties.

Step 5. Once the properties opens, move to member of tab. You can see that this user added to the Users Group but if we want to add it to other group select add.

Step 6. When the Select Group Window opens, simply select advanced then it will open an advanced window of select Groups. When that opens select Find now to list all the Built-in Groups on windows 10.

Step 7. Now select a Group for this user. You can put it on the administrator Group, Backup Operators and more. I will add it to the backup operators groups.

Then you will be back to the basic select group with a Group selected. If you want to add to multiple groups, type the group name and check or use the advanced option to select a Group.

Step 8. When you are done select Ok and you will be back to properties window at the member of tab, here select apply to apply the changes.

How to delete a User Account on Windows 10?

There are variety of methods where you can delete a User Account on Windows 10. You have learned one method before with CMD. Today let’s look how we can delete it with Graphical Interface with 2 methods.

Step 1. Open Windows settings by holding Windows+ I buttons, when it open select accounts and move to family and other users.

Step 2. Select a user and select Remove. But before removing please make sure to take backup of the User.

Step 3. Now a blue window will open, which says please take backup of the files. You need to select Delete User and data.

How to Delete a User Account from Local Users and Groups?

Now that you have created user account, you may be wondering they will you have the ability to delete a Users with Local Users and groups. Well the answer is obviously yes, you can delete even multiple Users at once. Just hold Ctrl Button and select them one by one. When you are done, follow the below procedures;

Step 1. Right click on the user which you want to delete, then Select Delete.

Step 2. It will give you a warning, simply select Yes and the user will be removed easily without taking too much time.
